Statue-Menhirs in the Almendres Stone Circle
A night shot of Menhir 56 from the same stone circle wears a lunula (crescent-shaped pendant). The designs on these granite blocks are faint and difficult to make out. They have been very little publicized and pictures of them are hard to come by. Archaeological studies date them to around 4000 bce. All three stone circles with statue menhirs are located to the west of Evora in the central Alentejo region of Portugal.

Stones 56 and 94. Not all the stones bear designs, but those with human representations usually stand on the highest ground and in the western portion of these east-facing stone circles.
